Frequently Asked Questions.

Do you have questions about volunteering?

Why become a volunteer?

This is your chance to be part of the action during the Mountain Bike World Championships. It's the first time so many disciplines will be hosted in the same region, making it a golden opportunity for those interested in multiple disciplines. Volunteering is also a great way to meet amazing people with a shared goal and learn new skills along the way.

What are the requirements to be a volunteer?

If you’re over 16 years old, motivated, and available during the event dates, we’d love to welcome you to the Valais 2025 volunteer team. For some roles, specific skills might be required, such as good physical fitness for track-side positions in Champéry or Aletsch.

Can I volunteer at multiple locations?

While we prioritize volunteers who can help across multiple days and locations, it’s also possible to volunteer for just a few days at a single destination. Volunteers who contribute more days will have access to exclusive additional benefits.

Is accommodation provided for volunteers?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodation for the 1,000+ volunteers participating in the event. We recommend securing lodging early to stay close to the competition sites. Please note that some shifts start early in the morning (around 6 a.m.), when public transport may not yet be available.

Are travel expenses covered for volunteers?

Yes, public transport costs are included. Volunteers can enjoy free travel from anywhere in Switzerland to the competition sites.

Will meals be provided for volunteers during their shifts?

Yes, all volunteers will receive drinks and lunch packs during their shifts.

I don’t live in Switzerland but want to volunteer. Is that possible?

Yes, we accept applications from everyone, though most volunteers are expected to be from Switzerland. Please note we do not cover visa costs, and you must ensure your accident insurance complies with Swiss regulations.

I don’t have an email address. Can I still sign up?

Unfortunately, all volunteers need an email address to receive essential information and training before the event.

Will volunteers receive special event uniforms?

Yes, every volunteer will receive an official event uniform, which will be showcased on our website.

Am I covered by insurance in case of an accident while volunteering?

Yes, all volunteers will be insured for accidents during their shifts.

I want to sign up for a role but don’t know what to do. Will there be training?

Yes, training will be provided both online and on-site. Please check the EHRO volunteer platform closer to the event for more details.

How many days do I need to be available to volunteer?

The minimum number of days depends on the role. For competition-related roles, a minimum of three days is required. For other roles, a single day may be sufficient.

I signed up for a date but my plans changed. What should I do?

You can update your availability on the EHRO platform at any time. However, note that some roles may no longer be available if you change your dates.

What happens after I register?

Once your registration is confirmed, you’ll receive emails with next steps, including training details, volunteer events, and other important updates.

Will I get free tickets to the competitions?

Volunteers do not receive extra tickets. However, your volunteer badge will grant access to paid areas during your shift.

Do I need to come to Valais for administrative steps before my volunteer day?

No, but you must arrive early on your assigned day to collect your uniform, lunch, and attend the pre-shift briefing. Some missions start as early as 6 a.m.

The FAQ doesn’t answer all my questions. Where can I get more information?

If your questions aren’t answered here, visit our website for more details. You can also contact us at volunteers@valais2025.ch.
